Getz Healthcare Hong Kong and Taiwan participated in Aortic Asia 2024, an annual regional conference on aortic surgery in APAC, which was held in Hong Kong on 21-22 June 2024. More than 150 doctors, including vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, and cardiothoracic surgeons, as well as vascular nurses from APAC, joined the event.

We were honored to have Prof Andrew Holden, a consultant interventional radiologist from Auckland City Hospital, and Mr. Ted Ruppel, CEO of Shape Memory Medical, joined us to deliver a breakfast meeting before the conference on Saturday morning. They presented the latest clinical results of the Shape Memory Medical polymer embolization plug on sac shrinkage promotion in patients with life-threatening abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Nine doctors from Hong Kong and Taiwan joined this meeting to communicate directly with Prof. Holden and Ted on the technical, operational, and clinical aspects of this polymer plug. We received overwhelming responses from the participants in the meeting.

In addition to Prof Andrew Holden, Dr. KK Wong and Dr. Skyi Pang, two renowned vascular surgeons in Hong Kong, also highlighted Shape Memory Medical devices in their presentation on endoleak treatment and internal iliac artery aneurysm treatment, respectively, as well as the Bentley BeBack crossing catheter. This had a remarkable influence on the audience, showing how the products in our portfolio can help them treat their patients and demonstrating how Getz Healthcare is bringing meaningful healthcare solutions to people in the Asia Pacific.

Ted extended his stay in Hong Kong and Taiwan to support Shape Memory Medical cases and meet customers. Two cases from Hong Kong were arranged on 25 June in two hospitals, with successful implantation of Shape Memory Medical plugs for iliac artery aneurysm treatment. The operators of both cases were implanting Shape Memory Medical plugs in patients for the first time and were very satisfied with the product in terms of deployment and clinical efficacy, as well as the support from Shape Memory Medical and Getz Healthcare. We look forward to building further successful stories on these small yet fundamental first steps for future business growth.
